JAMB has dismissed as fake a viral result slip claiming a candidate scored 394 in the 2026 UTME. The candidate named on the document, Okon Winnifred Sampson, has been linked to a result that spread widely on social media before the board intervened.

JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin called the slip fabricated and urged the public to disregard it. He warned Nigerians against sharing examination information not issued through official channels.

What the Viral Result Claimed

The document spread widely on social media as the supposed highest UTME score recorded so far, drawing reactions across X and WhatsApp before JAMB responded. The post originated from social media user @Onsogbu on X, who presented the result as a legitimate achievement.

JAMB pointed to one immediate red flag: official UTME results are view-only. A printable or shareable result slip does not exist in the board's system.

Benjamin said the document was built on a fabricated template; nothing in its design matches what JAMB's system actually produces.

How JAMB Identified the Fake

The board identified two specific technical failures in the circulated document.

"Firstly, the Board has clearly stated that UTME results are view-only. The circulated document appears on a fabricated result template, which on its own is sufficient indication that it is not authentic," Benjamin said.

"Secondly, the Board's registration numbers are system-generated and do not follow the pattern '20269' as seen on the fake slip. There are several other inconsistencies that, even at a glance, expose the result as fraudulent," he added.

JAMB's registration numbers are machine-generated by its own system; the pattern on the fake slip does not match that format.

What Candidates Should Do Now

JAMB advised candidates, parents, and the public to rely only on official platforms for examination information.

"The public is strongly advised to disregard this fake result and rely only on official channels for accurate information. All results at the moment are view-only," Benjamin stated.

With 2026 UTME results still in view-only mode, the window for misinformation is wide open. Candidates should share nothing that looks like a printed result slip and verify every claim through jamb.gov.ng before reacting or reposting.

JAMB's response arrives as public interest in 2026 UTME top scores peaks. The board has signaled it will push back hard on viral misinformation before official results are fully released.
