To check your JAMB 2026 admission status, log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open the admission status option, choose the exam year and enter your registration number. If an offer shows, you accept or reject it on CAPS, the Central Admissions Processing System. Two dates matter now: public universities must finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 October 2026, and candidates with unanswered offers from 2021 to 2025 have until 30 November 2026.
This guide is for 2026 UTME candidates waiting for an offer, and for older candidates with a pending offer they never answered. It puts the latest JAMB deadlines, the September CAPS outage, the causes of a Not Admitted status and the scam warnings in one place. Last reviewed 24 October 2026.

Not Admitted on CAPS is the default placeholder. It does not mean you were rejected. It usually means no school has sent your name yet, or something on your profile blocks it.
What is current on 24 October 2026
JAMB's own CAPS page describes the system as the way tertiary institutions process admissions, and says candidates can check status on the JAMB portal at any time. Admissions can be processed in batches or instantly, which is why your status can change days after a school releases a list.
| Item | What JAMB said | Source |
|---|---|---|
| CAPS outage | CAPS was shut on 24 September 2026 and restored by 28 September | Nairametrics, VON |
| Public universities | Finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 October 2026 | Nairametrics, VON |
| Private universities | By 30 November 2026 | Nairametrics, VON |
| Other tertiary institutions | By 31 December 2026 | Nairametrics, VON |
| Pending offers from 2021 to 2025 | Accept or reject by 30 November 2026, after earlier deadlines of 31 August and 30 September | Nairametrics, Legit.ng |
Sources for the table: Nairametrics on the outage, VON, and Legit.ng on the new deadline. Both outlets report that the 30 November date was announced on JAMB's X account on 30 September. Some guides still circulating, including a September 2026 Legit.ng explainer, list 30 September as final. That date has been replaced.
The JAMB homepage also shows the 2026 policy meeting result: a minimum admission score of 150 for universities and nursing colleges, and 100 for polytechnics, monotechnics, colleges of agriculture, colleges of education and IEIs. A score above these numbers does not guarantee an offer, because each course sets its own cut-off.
How to check your admission status
These steps follow the Legit.ng walkthrough of 11 September 2026 and the login page at efacility.jamb.gov.ng. Button labels can differ slightly on your screen.
- Open efacility.jamb.gov.ng in your phone browser or on a laptop. Type the address yourself. Do not use a link from WhatsApp or a text message.
- Log in with the email address and password you used at registration. If you forgot the password, use the reset link on the same page.
- Choose Check Admission Status, select 2026 as the exam year, enter your registration number and click Access my CAPS.
- Read the result. An offer shows the institution and course. Not Admitted means nothing is showing yet.
- If an offer shows, open Admission Status in the left menu, where the Accept Admission and Reject Admission options appear.
If the mobile page misbehaves, switch the browser to its desktop view.
How to accept or reject an offer
Whichever route you choose, the decision is final and cannot be reversed, so read the offer before you tap.
- On CAPS: choose Accept Admission or Reject Admission and confirm. Legit.ng says the response is recorded immediately.
- By SMS: Legit.ng reports that you send your registration number, a space and ACCEPT or REJECT to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number on your JAMB profile, with at least ₦100 airtime. Wait for JAMB's confirmation, then check CAPS. JAMB's CAPS page also mentions a USSD facility on the major networks.
- In person: use biometrics at an accredited CBT centre or a JAMB office.
After accepting, you pay for and print your admission letter through the JAMB portal.
Should you accept or reject?
Accept if the school and course are what you want. Reject if you plan to go elsewhere, because a held offer can block another school from taking you. Nairametrics reports that candidates admitted in the 2026 exercise can reject older pending offers without affecting the 2026 admission, and that candidates who left a school can accept the old offer and then apply for correction or deletion where applicable. Read the exact JAMB notice before doing either.
If your pending offer is from 2021 to 2025
This group has the hardest deadline. JAMB told candidates not to wait until the last minute, according to Nairametrics. Offers left unanswered by 30 November revert to Not Admitted, and a later request to update such a record carries a penalty fee. No amount was published, so do not trust anyone who quotes you a figure.
Why CAPS shows Not Admitted, and what to do
Legit.ng's 11 September explainer lists five causes.
| Cause | What to try |
|---|---|
| O'Level result not uploaded or verified | Open My O'Level on the dashboard. Legit.ng says a missing result is uploaded at an accredited CBT centre with your original certificate, so confirm the route with JAMB's help desk |
| UTME score below the course cut-off | Look at the school's own cut-off and consider a change of course or institution |
| Course quota already full | CAPS reportedly stops taking names once a department reaches its approved capacity. Ask the school about a transfer to another course |
| School has not uploaded its list | Wait, because schools upload in batches. Check the school's own portal too |
| Pending transfer approval | The school may have offered a different course. Log in and accept the transfer on your dashboard, or the admission may stall |
If you are still waiting on 2026 NECO results, VON reports that JAMB asked candidates to upload or verify them quickly so institutions can consider them. NECO is also changing how it examines, which we cover in NECO is Going Digital.
If the course is wrong, the route is a change of course or institution, covered in our change of course post. Legit.ng puts the total cost of a change of institution at about ₦3,500 to ₦4,000, against an official ₦2,500 fee.
Result slip printing, and fake slips
When a viral 2026 slip claiming a 394 score appeared, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin said UTME results can be viewed but not printed or shared as slips, and that real registration numbers do not follow the pattern on the fake. See our report on the fake score. A printed slip from a cafe is not proof of anything. The only proof is your result on your own JAMB profile.
Scams to avoid
- No agent can change your CAPS status. Admission must appear on CAPS, so anyone charging to push your name is lying or committing fraud.
- JAMB warns that offers accepted outside CAPS are at the candidate's own risk, per Legit.ng.
- Never share your JAMB password or the OTP sent to you. Log in only at efacility.jamb.gov.ng.
- A school asking for a large fee before your name shows on CAPS is a warning sign. Confirm with the admissions office in person or on its official site.
Common errors and fixes
- Page will not load: CAPS was down for several days in September. If it fails again, wait and retry off peak, and check JAMB's X account for notices.
- Wrong password or no OTP: use the reset link on the login page. SMS delivery depends on your network, so try another network if the code never comes.
- SMS gives no reply: confirm the offer shows on CAPS first, and send from the number on your profile.
- Offer is for a course you did not choose: do not reject out of anger. Ask the school if it can move you, because rejecting is final.
FAQ

Does Not Admitted mean I failed? No. It is the default status.
Can I print my result slip? JAMB says results are view only.
What does it cost? JAMB has published no fee for accepting or rejecting. The ₦2,500 figure is for a change of institution.
Answer every offer before the deadline that applies to you, and only on CAPS or an official JAMB route.
