Full Program Details
Every year, several thousand people apply for a small number of places in the Maurice R. Greenberg World Fellows Program at Yale. Past fellows include journalists, founders, civil servants, activists and artists from more than 100 countries, and the network now has over 450 members. If you have spent years building something in Lagos, Accra or Nairobi and want time to think, learn and connect at a global level, this is one of the strongest programmes you can apply to.
World Fellows pay no tuition or fees. Yale gives each fellow a living stipend, a furnished apartment, medical insurance and round-trip travel from their home country.

GizPulse Verdict
Who this is for: African leaders with a clear track record, such as a founder who has scaled a company, a reporter whose work changed policy, or a public servant who led a major reform, and who can spend four months away from work.
Who should pause: If you are under five years into your career or cannot leave your job and family for a full semester, wait for a later cycle. US citizens are not eligible.
One tip to stand out: With only 600 words, skip your life story. Pick the one achievement that best proves your impact, show the numbers, and explain what you will do with what you learn at Yale.
