This role is remote for applicants based in the United States who work Pacific Time hours, with a preference for people in San Francisco.
For most developers, the first time they try Deepgram's voice AI is in its Playground and Console. Deepgram wants a product designer to own the day to day craft on those screens, learning from senior designers along the way.
About Deepgram
Deepgram builds speech to text, text to speech and voice agent APIs. More than 200,000 developers and 1,300 organisations use it, including Twilio and Cloudflare, and it has transcribed more than 1 trillion words.
About the Role
You will report to the Director of Product Design and start with feature level UI on Playground and Console, using Cosmos, Deepgram's design system. You will:
- Design and refine UI from a defined problem and a set direction
- Take assigned pieces of feature work from start to finish
- Pick up design work wherever it is needed across product surfaces
- Apply the design system and make sound calls on edge cases
- Document why you made each decision, for the team and engineers
- Present your work in critique and give useful feedback to peers
- Use AI and design tools daily and share what you learn
About You
- Strong UI craft and a portfolio that shows visual and interaction judgement
- Experience taking feature work from direction to handoff
- Comfort working inside a design system
- Clear writing, including the reasoning behind your choices
- Comfort with technical products
- AI tools already part of your daily work
Nice to Have
- Experience designing for developers, such as APIs, SDKs, docs or consoles
- B2B SaaS experience with self serve and enterprise customers
- Prototyping beyond static screens
- Curiosity about voice and audio products
What Deepgram Offers
Deepgram lists a salary of US$115,000 to US$142,500 a year, with equity and a bonus also part of the package. The posting says it cares more about skill than years of experience.
