Polar is building the billing layer for that world, and it wants a senior engineer who cares as much about how the product feels as about how the code runs.

About the Role
Polar calls this role Product Engineering. Depending on your strengths, you could:
- Own product development end to end, from spotting an opportunity to shipping and iterating on it across the stack
- Turn complex billing and monetization workflows into clear interfaces, APIs and abstractions for merchants
- Ship improvements continuously while keeping a high bar on performance and detail
- Talk to merchants directly to learn how they use Polar and turn their feedback into product changes
The stack is TypeScript with React and Effect on the frontend, Python with FastAPI and Dramatiq on the backend, and Postgres, ClickHouse and AWS for infrastructure.
About You
- A senior engineer with experience building, shipping and evolving production software over time
- Deep skill in at least one part of the stack and confidence working across frontend and backend
- Strong product judgment and a real eye for design and developer experience
- High ownership: you take problems end to end and make decisions without perfect information
- Comfort using AI-assisted development tools while staying close to the code

- Experience with payments, billing or developer tools
- Open-source contributions or side projects you can show
