About Quidax

Quidax is a Nigerian-founded cryptocurrency exchange. Founded in 2018 by Buchi Okoro, Uzo Awili, and Morris Ebieroma, the platform has grown from 50 users at launch to over one million customers across 70+ countries.

In 2024, it became the first crypto exchange in Nigeria to receive a provisional operating licence from the SEC as a digital assets exchange. No other exchange in the country holds that status.

Quidax is not building a hobby product. Roughly $57 billion in retail crypto transactions moved through Nigerian exchanges between June 2024 and June 2025. Around one in four Nigerian adults uses cryptocurrency. The engineering work here has real consequences.

What the Java Spring Boot Role Involves

You would work on Quidax’s core backend: the services behind every trade, payment, and account action on the platform. That means REST APIs, third-party integrations, transaction processing, and keeping flows running continuously.

Day to day:

  • Track down failed transactions, broken callbacks, and states the system cannot explain, then fix them.
  • Own specific services end-to-end: design, build, ship, monitor
  • Improve test coverage across critical trading and payment paths.
  • Add logging and alerts where the system’s visibility is weak.
  • Review other people’s code. Expect yours to be reviewed in return.
  • By month six: resolve reliability issues independently

The onboarding is structured. First 30 days: understand the core Java Spring Boot services and ship one meaningful fix. By month three: own something. By month six: no hand-holding required.

The role is not comfortable. You are working on backend systems where failures affect real customers the moment they happen. Many of the complex flows you will debug are not fully documented. You will need to absorb fintech infrastructure concepts, including idempotency, retries, state machines, and reconciliation, and apply them quickly.

What They Want

Required:

  • 3 to 5 years of Java Spring Boot backend experience in production environments
  • Comfortable with REST APIs, background jobs, database design, testing, and debugging
  • You trace flows, read logs, and find root causes rather than patching symptoms.
  • You patch what is broken before you rebuild what is not.
  • You write clean code and care about how it affects real users.

Useful to have:

  • Familiarity with idempotency, retries, reconciliation, and state machines
  • Experience in fintech, payments, crypto, or any transaction-heavy backend system
  • Exposure to Kafka, JPA, or Hibernate
  • Prior experience working remotely in a startup
  • Any background with crypto exchanges, payment providers, or bank integrations

If you have Kafka or JPA experience, lead with it in your application.

Salary and Benefits

No salary or compensation range is disclosed.

For market context only: mid-level backend engineers at well-funded Nigerian fintech companies typically earn between ₦900,000 and ₦2,200,000 per month for remote roles. These are not figures from Quidax. They are unverified market estimates. Do not treat them as a benchmark without independent confirmation.

Who Can Apply

The listing states Nigeria as the location. The role is fully remote, so you can work from anywhere in the country.

Payment is most likely in naira, given that Quidax is a Nigerian-registered company. If USD or stablecoin compensation matters to you, raise it early. They are the most regulated exchange in the country. Push for the answer you need.

How to Apply

  1. Go directly to the application page:
  2. Create a Factorial HR account or log in.
  3. Complete the application form and upload your CV.
  4. No deadline is listed. Rolling applications fill without announcement. Apply now.

Have ready:

  • Updated CV leading with production Java experience and any fintech, payments, or high-throughput system work
  • GitHub profile or portfolio samples showing testing discipline, API design, or background job handling
  • LinkedIn profile, if it accurately reflects your experience

GizPulse Verdict

Quidax is not posting a filler role. It is the most credentialed crypto exchange operating in Nigeria right now, and the Java Spring Boot team sits at the centre of what the company does. When trades break or payments fail, this team owns the fix.

The role suits a backend engineer who has worked on anything financially consequential: payment processing, order management, billing systems, or bank integrations. You do not need crypto experience from day one, but you need the temperament to work carefully on systems where getting it wrong has immediate, visible consequences.

The missing salary disclosure is the main friction point. That is not disqualifying on its own, but ask before you waste time in a final-round interview.

One tip to stand out: The listing uses the word “methodical” twice. In any technical interview or take-home task, walk through your debugging process explicitly. Show how you read logs, isolate the problem, and verify the fix. Do not just show the solution.
