About the Role
This is a hands on engineering seat that owns the data side of FinOps. You will:
- Analyse AWS and GCP billing and usage to find savings such as rightsizing, storage lifecycle rules and data transfer
- Build and run the BigQuery and dbt models that turn raw billing data into trusted tables
- Model cost against revenue and margin by product line and customer segment
- Build forecasting and anomaly detection on cost and usage data
- Set up tagging, cost allocation and showback so teams can see their own spend
- Automate cost reporting and alerts with Python, Terraform and Lambda
- Support Finance with budgets, KPIs and dashboards
About You
- Strong AWS knowledge and working GCP knowledge, including pricing and billing
- Data engineering depth with dbt, BigQuery or a similar warehouse, and SQL at scale
- Data science basics: forecasting, anomaly detection and experiments
- Scripting with Python, Terraform or Pulumi, Lambda or Bash
- Comfort with AWS Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports and BI tools
- The ability to explain a savings case to engineers, finance and leadership
Nice to Have
- Experience with a cloud cost platform such as CloudZero or Vantage
