About the Role
Join the RAN Baseband System Management team in Ottawa, working on cutting-edge Radio Access Network technology. Ericsson is a global leader in 5G deployment and is actively developing 6G technology. This team focuses on signal processing, radio resource management, physical layer algorithms, multi-antenna systems, cloud deployments, and 5G/6G software simulation — collaborating with customers, partners, and global Ericsson units, and contributing to standardization through 3GPP.
Responsibilities
- Conduct systems studies in Radio Resource Management — scheduling, link adaptation, time-critical communication, and control channel management
- Specify system features, functions, test cases, algorithms, use cases, and parameters
- Develop network-level software simulations for 5G feature/algorithm performance analysis
- Drive continuous improvement of products, simulation tools, and processes
- Lead solution package studies and participate in system trouble report teams
- Contribute to 5G standards advancement and 6G readiness
- Support patents and invention disclosures
- Support 5G system verification and test result analysis
- Assist with deploying new 5G products/features into customer networks
- Support customer troubleshooting and analysis
- Collaborate globally on new features and improvements
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent
- Background in communications theory and digital signal processing
- Experience with 5G NR (6G exposure a plus), especially Physical Layer and Radio Resource Management
- Product development knowledge; familiarity with Lean/Agile a plus
- Programming skills in Java, C, and C++
- Simulation tool experience (e.g., MATLAB) a plus
- Strong analytical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills
- Excellent written and verbal English communication
Compensation (Ottawa, CA)
- Bachelor's degree: $81,700 CAD base salary, $8,500 CAD hiring bonus
- Master's degree: $90,300 CAD base salary, $11,500 CAD hiring bonus
- PhD: $100,700–$105,735 CAD base salary, $17,500 CAD hiring bonus
Plus eligibility for an annual short-term variable compensation bonus based on business and individual performance.
